Directing Reel

This reel features select scenes from "Love, Change" and an additional dramatic sequence, showcasing my approach to emotional storytelling, visual rhythm, and directing performance. From quiet relational tension to a climactic emotional beat, it reflects my interest in intimate, character-driven narratives with cinematic pacing and mood. I handled directing, writing, DP, and editing across these projects.

Shot and edited as part of my filmmaking studies, they reflect my creative vision and hands-on production skills.
Title: Love, Change
Role: Writer, DP, Director, Editor
Runtime: 2 minutes 9 seconds
Format: Short narrative scene
(School Project)

"Love, Change" effectively explores the tension between romantic emotions and real-world pressures in a concise and emotionally charged narrative. I directed the actors in an intimate, dialogue-driven scene that highlights maturity and sensitivity to human dynamics. The script subtly captures the emotional weight of financial insecurity within a relationship—an accessible and relatable theme.

Despite facing on-location sound challenges, which are common in indie production, I demonstrated practical problem-solving by managing the environment and maintaining sound quality. The pacing and visual storytelling remain clear throughout the emotional arc, and I believe my editing choices enhance both the performances and the overall mood.

Triple roles to capture the emotional nuance in a short format.
Title: C’est La Vie
Role: Writer, DP, Director, Editor
Runtime: 1 minute 33 seconds
Format: Silent short film, black and white
(School Project)

C’est La Vie is a visually symbolic short that captures the melancholy of human struggle through the eyes of a clown. The decision to present the film in black and white, with the aspect ratio, reinforces its timeless, Chaplinesque tone. This aesthetic choice demonstrates my intention to echo the feel of classic cinema while addressing universal themes like poverty and societal neglect.

I think the camera movement was not that smooth. However, the clarity of the concept, emotional resonance, and audience feedback show my strong instincts for mood-setting and visual metaphor. The falling dollar scene functions as an effective emotional pivot, and the integration of music and space reflects thoughtful directorial choices.

Highlighted conceptual or experimental.
